United States Federal Law and individual state laws protect the one on one relationship and the information shared between a patient and a psychologist. This relationship is commonly referred to as Doctor-Patient Privilege. Under some specific circumstances, Dr. Rice would be compelled to make exceptions to this privilege as required by law. These exceptions include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Intent to inflict harm on any individual, to include the patient themself.
- Child Abuse
- Elder Abuse
- Abuse of any other dependent or individual
